Programme Manager, Research and Consultancies Team

Location: Either New Delhi or Chennai, work involves national and international travel

Main function: responsible for research programme development, monitoring and reporting, implementation, quality assurance and budget control of various research projects/ tasks/ engagements.

Duties and responsibilities

A. Strategy development

Provide assistance in developing strategic plan, conducting annual review of strategic plan and developing annual action plans for the respective strategic area
Identifying new strategic and programming opportunities and developing the same for the respective strategic area/team

B. Praxis team management

Create and manage database related to the strategic area and the team
Assist the Team Head in managing human resource as per the HR policies and plans of the respective strategic area and team
Establish effective public relation and bring about visibility for Praxis in the respective Team locations

C. Programme Management

Develop quality standards for project/task/engagement and ensure quality of all the products and processes that fall under the purview of the strategic team/area
Conceptualise proposasl and provide critical and creative inputs for developing basic frameworks for proposals in the respective strategic team/area
Develop scientific research and operational designs for each project/task/engagement in line with the conceptual framework
Provide guidance to develop high quality project proposals and be responsible for timely submission
Monitor timely execution of the projects and tasks as per the approved ToR and operational framework of various project/tasks/engagements
Guide and monitor data collection, collation and analysis in line with the research and operational design and conceptual framework
Provide guidance and support to produce high quality reports of the projects/tasks/engagements on time
Effective management of the projects/tasks/engagements from the inception stage to delivery of final products including conflict management
Manage finances respective to each project/task/engagement as per financial management plan of the organisation
Provide effective and timely leadership to the projects in starting up, at various phases and production of quality results
Engage in ongoing mentoring of staff/team to deliver results based on each project/task/engagement
Recruit competent experts and consultants as per the requirement of each project/task/engagement

D. Resource mobilisation and client/agency/partner relationships

Assist fund raising efforts as per the annual financial plan and strategic area target
Liaise with clients/agencies/partners and foster professional relationships
Build proactive rapport with clients/agencies/partners through effective communication

E. Team working

Facilitate inter-team collaboration and provide specialised services that are required for other teams and strategic areas
Build capacity of the team members based on capacity need assessment to produce quality results
Share and contribute to the organisational learning process based on internal review and reflection processes

F. Representations, communications and knowledge sharing

Develop and implement innovations in the projects/engagements
Institutionalise the learning by producing knowledge documents and dissemination of the same
Network with other organisations, agencies and institutions so as to mainstream learning and approaches on relevant issues
Build the profile of Praxis by contributing to the knowledge building process and produce high quality products

G. Other responsibilities

Undertake other responsibilities not outlined above which are appropriate, including one off support to other programmes as agreed with the line manager

Required qualifications, skills and experience

PhD in social science with minimum 4 years experience in research studies/Masters Degree in social science with minimum 7 years of experience in research studies
Direct experience working in the development sector (NGOs, government development programmes)
Understanding of international development procedures and practices and commitment to international development objectives
Good team player, able to work independently on own initiative and organise time effectively and within a range of conflicting deadlines.
Good negotiaton skills with experience of maintaining effective partnerships.
Good financial management and budgeting skills and a flawless record of financial integrity.
Proficiency in spoken and written English and one other Indian language
High degree of competency using computer programmes in processing data and producing reports and presentations

Desired Skills

Exposure to and understanding of audience research and the integration of research findings into creative outputs
Experience interfacing with the media
Knowledge of additional regional/ foreign languages
Knowledge of softwares related to quantitative and qualitative analysis

Programme Officer - Capacity Building and Networking

Location: New Delhi or Chennai; work involves extensive national/ international travel

Main function: responsible for the execution of training and capacity building projects independently. Will also be responsible for networking with other organisations on issues of advocacy.

Duties and responsibilities

Lead in the development of high quality project proposals and submit the same on time
Lead in the development of tailor made modules for each training that Praxis is engaged with
Develop training manuals for important modules with sufficient theoretical base and get them published
Networking with other like-minded organisations on relevant issues.
Proactively open new channels of communication on own initiative
Facilitate timely execution of the projects and tasks as per the approved terms of reference
Produce high quality reports of the projects/tasks/engagements on time and Express ideas clearly, orally and in writing
Organise resources, meetings and other essential support services to carry on various tasks related to the projects
Arrange necessary logistics including dates, appointments, travel, accommodation and so on, with respect to each project
Coordinate project processes systematically and in a sequential manner so as to bring about quality results
Organise appropriate persons for facilitating training and workshops, coordinate arrangement of logistics – dates, accommodation, travel and so on. Obtaining timely support from the respective strategic areas and departments to deliver outputs and required services and monitoring of quality of the training and capacity building sessions and processes
Create and maintain essential database on training and capacity building processes
Contribute to organisational learning process based on internal reflection and evaluation on the concurrent engagements and learning

Qualifications and experience

Masters Degree in social science with minimum 4 years of experience in conducting capacity need assessment and organising and facilitating trainings and workshops
Direct experience in working with the development sector (NGOs, government development programmes)
Strong understanding of issues of exclusion
Ability to work independently on own initiative and organise time effectively and within a range of conflicting deadlines.
Good negotiating and diplomatic skills with experience of maintaining effective partnerships.
Good financial management and budgeting skills and a flawless record of financial integrity.
Proficiency in spoken and written English and one other Indian language
High degree of competency using computer programmes in processing data and producing reports and presentations

Programme Officer- Development Statistician, Research and Consultancies Team

Location: New Delhi or Chennai; work involves extensive national/ international travel

Main function: to assist in planning the collection, analysis and interpretation of data in ongoing projects of the Praxis research and consultancies tea,

Duties and Responsibilities

A. Research, Data Capturing and Analysis

Participate in generation of appropriate indicators for various research studies
Incorporate statistically significant data collection methods in the qualitative research studies
Play a key role in collection, analysis and dissemination of data
Create quality control mechanisms for data collected to ensure good quality data is collected
Develop new, improved and innovative methods of data collection, analysis and dissemination

B. Team working

Proficiency in spoken and written English essential. Knowledge of the regional language is desirable.

Programme Assistant – Research and Consultancies

Location: New Delhi or Chennai; work involves national and international travel

Main function
The programme assistant – research and consultancies, will play a key role in research projects and in undertaking tasks of coordination and organising resources and services.

Duties and responsibilities
