Praxis is a development support organisation committed to mainstreaming the voices of the poor and marginalised sections of society in the quest for equity and governance. Praxis engages in participatory research, capacity-building and advocacy to ensure that the most excluded and vulnerable communities have a say in development. 


Nomad Inc onference

Praxis - Institute for Participatory Practices and Partners in Change jointly organised the first Nomad Inc. conference in the first week of December to deliberate on issues related to the challenges faced by the Denotifed and Nomadic Tribes in India. Shikshagiri: Children's Voices to the Inputs for New Education Policy

"Education should be like a river, free for all, regardless of caste and gender. Anyone can access it", said panelists at the Ground Level Panel, feeding in inputs for the Draft New Education Policy to be announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. As the MHRD put the draft online and sought recommendations from the public, Praxis along with its partners came together to give the primary beneficiaries of this policy, children, a platform to input into the recommendation for this policy. Support to Government of India's Swachch Bharat Mission 

Praxis facilitated a series of five workshops in various locations in India for the United Nation's Water Supply And Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC), a body that works exclusively on sanitation. In supporting WSSCC's mission to power the Government's Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, Praxis conducted workshops on Rapid Action Learning Units (RALU) in Pune, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Kolkata in June 2016, where over 200 government functionaries from the State/District/Panchayat levels working on sanitation from these regions were trained on formation and uses of RALUs. Business and Human Rights

Corporate Responsibility Watch, of which Praxis is the Secretariat, in assocciation with Praxis and other partners launched the third edition of the India Responsible Business Index (IRBI) findings in early 2018 in New Delhi. The IRBI evaluates the top 100 listed companies on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Principles of Business Responsibilty based on information available in the public domain.  Click here to read about how the companies fared on critical indicators like employee well-being, community as stakeholder, non discrimination among others. CRW released a series of reports on the status of Corporate Responsibility in India. This report, which is the second edition of the Status of Corporate Responsibility in India series, aims to maintain the continuity in compelling companies to go beyond the mandated 2% CSR spend and examine how the profits are made, rather than how they are being spent. Supporting grassroots organisations to influence policies 
The project, 'By the People' funded by the European Union, aims to build leadership capacity among the marginalised section of society in the six states of India - Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. Praxis, in partnership with Oxfam India and Centre for Social Equity and Inclusion (CSEI), supports community-led organisations of Dalits, Tribals and Muslims to advocate for a fair and Inclusive society. Praxis supports the facilitation of Ground-Level Panels of these communities across specific themes. For more details, click here
